FIU.NET PROJECT
The FIU.NET Project is derived from the Annual Work Programme Prevention of and fight against crime of Directorate-General for Home Affairs (former DG JLS) for the year 2009. The Project runs from November 1st 2009 till November 1st 2011. The formulated objectives are based upon the results of the 1st Project, the input from and the discussions in the EU Heads of FIU Platform meeting, the advice of the Think Tank, contacts with Partners, Users’ Workshops, and advanced judgment.
The FIU.NET Project has four general objectives:
• Agreement on the future direction of FIU.NET • Deepen cooperation via FIU.NET • Extend FIU.NET • Further professionalise FIU.NET IT environment
The overall objectives are specified in the following operational objectives, which must lead to measurable and time framed results:
1. Implementation Think Tank advise Expected result: Within six months after the start of the project an overview will be presented to the Board of Partners to indicate how the advise has been / will be implemented.
2. FIU.NET 2010/2011 Expected result: Within the project period, at least four updates will have been implemented based upon prioritisation by the Board of Partners.
3. Central access to applications via FIU.NET Expected result: One year after the start of the project, the feasibility of providing central applications via FIU.NET has been examined. The possibilities, including an advice of the FIU.NET Bureau, have been presented to the Board of Partners.
4. Statistics Expected result: Within six months after the start of the project, a prototype overview of FIU.NET statistics has been completed and presented to the Board of Partners. Before the end of the project an approved overview will have been implemented.
5. Cases and success stories Expected result: As from January 2011, every other month at least one success story will be placed on the website.
6. Cooperation between users Expected result: During the project period at least two User Workshops have been organised, in which maximal two staff members per FIU have participated.
7. Improve ESW / FIU.NET integration Expected result: Six months before the end date of the project, a feasibility study into FIU.NET light and its availability on ESW will be completed and presented to the Board of Partners.
